A well-established, medium-sized civil engineering contractor based in Somerset is seeking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor / Assistant Quantity Surveyor to support its expanding commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated Assistant QS looking to take the next step in their career within a supportive and stable business, delivering a diverse range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects across the South West.The RoleWorking closely with the Commercial Manager and Senior Quantity Surveyors, your responsibilities will include:

• Assisting with cost control and financial reporting on live projects
• Supporting the preparation of valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts
• Assisting with subcontractor procurement, including enquiries, comparisons, and appointments
• Helping to manage subcontractor accounts and variations
• Supporting tender preparation and cost planning when required
• Working collaboratively with site teams to ensure best commercial practice

About You

• Previous experience in a Quantity Surveying or commercial role within civil engineering or construction
• Degree-qualified (or working towards) in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline
• Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills
• Good communication skills with a proactive, professional approach
• Keen to learn, develop, and progress within a growing contractor
