Senior BIM Technician (MEP)Location: Cardiff (Hybrid – Office & Remote)Employment Type: Full-TimeOverviewWe are seeking a Senior BIM Technician to join our dynamic Cardiff team. In this senior role, you will lead the development, coordination, and integration of Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health (MEP) systems within BIM environments. Your expertise will ensure seamless model integration, high-quality deliverables, and support for sustainable building services projects.
The Senior BIM Technician will work closely with architects, engineers, and project teams to drive efficiency, maintain BIM standards, and mentor junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the creation, management, and coordination of 3D MEP models in Revit, ensuring compliance with BIM standards and project requirements
  • Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to resolve design conflicts and deliver coordinated multidisciplinary models
  • Conduct model reviews, clash detection, and quality assurance using tools like Navisworks
  • Prepare and maintain technical drawings, schedules, and reports to support project delivery and client requirements
  • Mentor and guide junior BIM technicians, fostering a culture of collaboration and knowledge-sharing
  • Implement best practices and stay current with BIM advancements and industry developments to enhance project outcomes
Candidate Profile
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in BIM modelling and coordination within building services, with a focus on MEP systems
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit MEP, Navisworks, and other relevant BIM software
  • Strong understanding of building services design principles, standards, and regulations
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve complex design challenges
  • Effective communicator with the ability to liaise with clients, contractors, and project teams
  • Relevant technical qualification in Building Services Engineering or a related discipline
Desirable Attributes
  • Experience with MagiCAD or similar MEP design software
  • Knowledge of sustainability standards and Net Zero Carbon design principles
  • Membership, or working toward membership, of a professional body such as CIBSE or APM
