A new opportunity has arisen for a Health & Safety Manager to join a privately owned and well respected developer in Cornwall!


Reporting to the Build Manager and Managing Director, you will typically be responsible for up to 5 sites.


You will come from a construction related background, ideally housebuilding but not essential and will be able to implement change and bring in new processes, this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a company transition and make the role your own.
 

Duties include:

• Monthly auditing of internal systems and record keeping for sites.
• Review of monthly external H&S reporting by BSG.
• Periodic review and update of company safety/reporting form templates and update as legislation changes or evolves.
• Monitor and organise personnel safety training.
• F10 Site registration and closing.
• Periodic review of company safety policy
• Write and periodically review CPH&SP for any new developments.
• Fire RA’s.
• Ensure site management are undertaking and recording fire drills as required and fire alarm systems are operational as pert of the auditing procedures.
• Contract Timber Frame erecting radiant heat assessments with a 3^rd party company competent to do so, whilst moving toward allowing for the company to undertake this task internally.
• Liaise with build manager to ensure master programme plot sequencing allows for radiant heat compliance.
• Production safety and fire safety within timber frame factory.
• Promoting safety through smart design of workflow within the planned new TF production facility.
• Assist site managers with reviewing of RAMS as required on more specialist or hazardous trades that may sit outside of their specific expertise.
• Provide general advice to site managers on the best way to address safety issues. Ideally this should be recorded on the monthly safety audits.
• General safety support and advice to the company as required.
• Toolbox talks (monthly at each site along with site audit) Subject matter to be appropriate to any topical safety improvements or recently discovered safety issues

 

Experience required to apply for the role:

• Construction related experience, ideally within house building but not essential!
• Experienced in ideally managing Timber frame projects
• Expertise within - Fire Safety, Rams, CDM, Waste management, risk assessments etc.
• NEBOSH or Construction related

 

The client is willing to consider both full and part time candidates, full time – 40 hours, part time – 24 hours over 3 days. You will spend time working between the office and sites.

 
A competitive salary is on offer £45,000 - £50,000 DOE, pro rata if part time, Holiday, pension and generous mileage rate.
